Northern Westchester resident Jebocka Perkins of Peekskill was picked up from the Westchester County Correctional Facility in Valhalla and taken to the New Haven County city of Meriden on Wednesday, Feb. 14, where he was charged in connection to an August 2023 larceny, Meriden Police announced.

According to Meriden Police, on Sunday, Aug. 27, around 6 p.m., Perkins and three other women entered the Ulta Beauty store at 533 South Broad St. in Meriden while wearing surgical masks and carrying bags. The suspects then began filling these bags with perfumes, fragrances, and other merchandise before fleeing the store, police said.

Store employees were able to get a description of the car they drove off in, which was identified as having a New Jersey registration.

Authorities soon put out a state-wide alert out for this vehicle, which was eventually spotted by a Connecticut State Police trooper who tried pulling it over. However, the car did not stop and sped off, eventually losing the trooper in the area of New Canaan, according to police.

New York State Police were then notified about the vehicle and eventually saw it. The car again did not stop and eventually crashed, at which point two of the suspects were taken into custody. The other two occupants involved in the theft ran away but were caught a short time later by Westchester County Police, authorities said.

Following the arrests, authorities were able to recover over $11,000 worth of merchandise stolen during the theft.

After being transported back to Meriden on Wednesday, Perkins was charged by warrant with the following:

  • Organized retail theft;
  • Second-degree larceny;
  • Second-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Perkins' bond was later set at $51,000 and he will next appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The names of his accomplices were not released. The investigation into the theft is still ongoing and more arrests are anticipated, police said.
